Enjoy all the festivities of Australia Day 2026 at our Australia Day Celebrations at The Rooty Hill. 

Enjoy a family-friendly day out while Rooty Hill plays host to live stage performances, free amusement rides, food stalls and concludes with Western Sydney’s best fireworks display!

Australia Day Concert is a licenced event and strictly no BYO alcohol. Alcohol must be purchased and consumed within the licenced area.

Headliner announcement: Australia Day headliner DIESEL

With over thirty five singles, sixteen albums, 6 ARIA awards and record sales edging 1 million, DIESEL is a journeyman of music. With blues music in his DNA, an influence largely from his Father's record collection, DIESEL has blended styles to come up with a truly unique sound, punctuated with his distinct guitar playing and vocals.

26 January 2026 AUSTRALIA DAY CONCERT AND FIREWORKS DISPLAY

AT ROOTY HILL – CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS

Vehicle Access

The Australia Day Concert will be held on Monday 26 January 2026 commencing with entry to the public via the Eastern Road gate permitted from 3:30 pm.  An opening in the median strip opposite the gate in Eastern Road will allow vehicle access onto the Rooty Hill.

Fireworks commence at 9:15 pm. Vehicle entry will not be permitted to the Rooty Hill after 8.30pm.

Road Closures

Access through Church Street will be restricted to all vehicles except vehicles with event passes. Vehicles parking on the Rooty Hill may exit via Church Street at the conclusion of the event.  

Pedestrian Access

Pedestrians who cross Eastern Road before or after the event should do so at the traffic signals at Rooty Hill Road South or Blacktown International Sports Park.  Those needing to cross Rooty Hill Road South should use the traffic signals at Eastern Road or Evans Road.

Parking Restrictions

Temporary No Stopping restrictions will be in place along both sides of Eastern Road (full-length), Rooty Hill Road South (between Cawarra Street and Eastern Road), Church Street (full-length), one side of Dunsmore Street  and along the southern section of Francis Road between Willis Street and Rooty Hill Road North on the day of the event. 

Off-Street Parking Availability

Parking will be available at the Rooty Hill. Should the parking at the Rooty Hill become full, additional overflow parking will be available at:

  • Blacktown & District Soccer Football Association.
  • Blacktown International Sports Park.

These car parks are accessible from Eastern Road.

Traffic Conditions

From 8:30 pm motorists can expect delays in Eastern Road, Francis Road and in Rooty Hill Road South. 

Please watch for Traffic Control personnel or Police and be prepared to follow their instructions.

How do I enter the event site by car?

Access to the site is via Eastern road.

What time do the gates open?

Gates open at 3.30 pm.

Can I bring my own picnic on site?

Yes, you can.

Can I bring alcohol onsite?

No you can’t.  This is a licenced event and strictly no BYO alcohol. Alcohol must be purchased and consumed in the licenced bar area.

Is there first aid onsite?

Yes, St Johns is located onsite at the top and bottom of the hill. If you need first aid please alert one of our event staff in an orange high-vis shirt.

What time do the rides close? 

All rides will close  by 8.30 pm 

Are the rides free? 

Yes all rides and activities are free 

Is the event free to enter? 

Yes the event is free and no bookings required

What time are the fireworks? 

Fireworks will launch anytime between 9.00 pm- 9.15 pm. 

Can i bring my own marque or tent? 

Yes, they are permitted. However can only be setup in Areas 1 and 3 as directed on the map. 

Is there accessible parking onsite?

Yes there is limited accessible parking onsite. Please follow directions from traffic staff upon entry at Eastern rd.

We have limited accessible parking onsite. Please follow directions from traffic site on the day of the event.  

Amplification 

Please note this event has loud amplification and doesn't provide a quiet sensory space. There will also be fireworks at the end of event which are quite loud. 

Accessible toilets

There are accessible toilets at the top and bottom of the hill.  

Auslan interpreter

We do not currently have an Auslan interpreter for this event. 

Accessible pathways

Whilst every effort is made to provide accessible pathways for this event, please be advised this is an outdoor event and is positioned on a steep incline. 

 

Parking and access

The Rooty Hill is a 10 minute walk from Rooty Hill Railway Station or can be accessed by car via Eastern Road, Rooty Hill. Limited free parking is available.

Public Transport

We encourage public transport to our Australia Day Concert as on site parking is limited. The Rooty Hill is a 10 minute walk from Rooty Hill Railway Station.

Parking will be available at the Blacktown International Sports Park and Blacktown Football park in designated car spots. These car parks are accessible from Easten Road.

 

Conditions of entry

  • Australia Day Concert & Fireworks is a free event
  • This is licenced event and strictly NO BYO alcohol is permitted
  • Security has the right to refuse entry or evict any person deemed intoxicated or a public nuisance
  • All bags are to be checked at entry points by security
  • Smoking of cigarettes and e-cigarettes is permitted in the designated smoking areas only
  • Pets are permitted and must be kept on a lead at all times
  • Large tents, marquees and umbrellas are permitted on the far left- and right-hand sides of the hill only

The following items are prohibited

  • alcohol & illegal substances of any kind
  • unauthorised drones, bicycles, tricycles or other motorised scooters or Segway’s
  • flares, fireworks, laser pointers
  • weapons of any kind, including any item that can be used as a projectile
  • any devise that has the potential to cause injury, become a nuisance or disrupt the event
